Owners Wayne and Catherine Pengilley, with the New Multinail PieceMaker
Heyden Frame & Truss, based in Wyong, New South Wales, embarked on an exciting new journey by joining the Multinail family of fabricators in August this year. This partnership has already brought significant improvements to their factory operations, product quality, and overall efficiency. We spoke with owners Evan Falzon and Wayne and Catherine Pengilley to learn more about their decision to partner with Multinail and the positive impact it has had on their business.
A desire for local service, responsive support, and cutting-edge machinery solutions drove the decision to switch to Multinail. Evan Falzon, one of the owners, highlighted how Multinail’s proactive approach and tailored solutions made the transition easy.
This sentiment, echoed by the entire team, was crucial in their decision-making process. Multinail’s commitment to their customers’ success was clear from the beginning, with Group CEO Trent Taylor taking a hands-on approach to ensuring their needs were met.
“When you meet the CEO, and he’s hugging us, you think, ‘Well, he really cares,’” said Evan.

A significant part of this collaboration involved restructuring Heydens’ factory to enhance efficiency. With guidance from the Multinail team, the factory layout was optimised to improve production flow and boost overall performance. Central to these upgrades was installing Multinail’s PieceMaker saw, a state-of-the-art machine transforming their production process.
The streamlined setup has allowed the team to handle larger, more complex projects while making better use of space and staff.
“Multinail also assisted us in sourcing a new jig. They connected us with a Multinail fabricator in Victoria, Truss Onsa, who had a jig they were no longer using. We were able to secure this equipment, significantly boosting our operational efficiency,” said Wayne.
One standout story in Heydens’ transition is the involvement of Catherine Pengilley, who operates the newly installed PieceMaker saw. Initially joining the family business to assist with various tasks, Catherine’s role evolved over time, and she eventually took on the responsibility of running one of the most important pieces of equipment in the factory.

Catherine’s journey is a testament to both the flexibility of Multinail’s solutions and the supportive environment fostered by the partnership.
Since partnering with Multinail, Heyden Frame & Truss has experienced significant improvements in their daily operations.
Evan noted that Multinail’s commitment to providing local service and responsive support has been invaluable, stating,
In fact, if Heyden’s ever requires urgent assistance with detailing, they can pick up the phone and speak with a Multinail local engineer. If needed, the engineer can even be onsite the next day to provide hands-on support.
Wayne echoed this sentiment, sharing a recent experience: “We had an issue with a press head that we bought, and we got a new one in two days. The support’s been amazing. They’re focused on us doubling our output so we’re more profitable.”
The staff at Heyden’s have embraced these changes, seeing them as a positive step forward for the business. “We knew that to stay competitive, we had to evolve, and Multinail made that transition easy,” Wayne reflected.
As Heyden Frame & Truss continues to grow, the future looks bright. The partnership with Multinail is poised to bring further benefits, with plans to integrate even more advanced solutions, like the CS2 software, into their operations.
Evan sees this as a crucial step for their ongoing success, explaining, “The software and machinery from Multinail has already streamlined our operations, and we’re excited to continue building on that.”
