EcoBrace features easy assembling with only one type of screws needed – Multinail advance ∅8mm pan head screws.
The screw pattern shown on the general assembly details are for illustration purpose only. Different screw patterns are designed and optimised for different timber sizes and applications.
Each Multinail Advance product undergoes rigorous testing to ensure its suitability and compliance with Australian engineering codes and standards.
Specifically, the EcoBrace portal frame system connections have undergone extensive in-house testing using engineered wood products (EWP) samples from various Australian suppliers.
All testing samples were kindly donated by ATS Building Products, Dindas, ITI, Meyer Timber, OZLVL, Tillings, Wesbeam.

The standard EcoBrace range can resist up to 20 kN of lateral wind load. A custom EcoBrace range can be designed to resist higher lateral loads and/or accommodate larger openings.
The EcoBrace system currently supports portal depths of 240 mm, 300 mm, 360 mm, and 400 mm.
If a different depth is required, the material must undergo testing before we can publish the data on our website.
Each U-shaped column base bracket requires one M16 concrete anchor, which can provide a minimum tie-down capacity of 18 kN. Chemical anchors are recommended due to the limited spacing between two anchors for each column. More details about anchors can be found in the EcoBrace Anchorage Guide document.
Yes, EcoBrace can be used on raised timber floors, provided that the floor joists or beams are designed to withstand the tie-down force required by EcoBrace. EcoBrace can also be stacked in multi-storey structures.
The lower end of the LVL column can be adjusted to suit the slab. It is a good idea to allow for a bit of extra length when supplying the EcoBrace timber components to accommodate minor onsite adjustments. Alternatively, steel shim plates are also permitted to ensure full contact bearing.
Predrilling significantly reduces the risk of timber splitting and ensures that your EcoBrace will perform as it is designed to. Depending on the timber species of the LVL, some species, especially hardwood, are more prone to splitting than others. If splitting occurs onsite, rectifications will be required to reinforce the EcoBrace joints.
Each kit comes with paper pre-drill guides for all standard LVL sizes. Simply apply the paper to your EcoBrace knee joint and pre-drill all marked locations using the paper pre-drill guide.
Cuts, notches, and holes are not permitted in the current standard EcoBrace portal frame range.
The brackets and fasteners come as a kit box per portal frame. For the LVL components, it is up to your local truss fabricator. They can be fully made on-site, predrilled in the factory and flat-packed for delivery to the site, or even delivered as prefabricated wall panels!
The brackets are zinc-plated for general indoor or within-wall cavity uses. Other corrosion protection coatings (hot-dip galvanized, powder-coated, etc.) are available upon request.
Those blanks are either in the testing phase or a work in progress to get the values published.
